In the late 1970s, Shrigonda, a predominantly rural area, faced several challenges, including poverty, illiteracy, drought, and unemployment. Late Shri Shivajirao (Bapu) Nagawade, former MLA and President of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Association, a prominent leader of the cooperative movement and a visionary social reformer, rightly identified education and economic development as the key to overcoming these challenges.
In 1971, he established the Shrigonda Cooperative Sugar Factory, transforming his vision into reality. Recognizing that sustainable development required access to quality education and vocational training, he went on to establish Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Shikshan Sanstha and Dnyandeep Shikshan Sanstha. These institutions were founded with the mission of providing educational opportunities and training to students, particularly those from farming and economically disadvantaged families.
His vision continues to inspire generations, with education serving as a powerful means of creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and building a better future.
